Tips to Host an Unforgettable Banquet

Good food, good drink, and a glamorous ambience, who wouldn’t have the time of their lives at such an event. And banquet delivers just that and so it has gained a wide popularity once the course of time and time and concept of making every moment count.

Banquets may be held to celebrate important and memorable events like a wedding reception, birthday parties, a press conference, or honor an entity/person. Considering how much of an impact it’s smooth functioning could be, there are quite a few pointers you need to be confident about while organizing a successful banquet.

Banquets are pre-arranged and pre-fixed on the number of people, date and time, food and beverages, and the price. All these factors revolve around the theme and purpose of the banquet. In a nutshell, here are the most important factors that matter the most in a banquet event.

1. Venue

This is by far the most important criteria when hosting a banquet. Your venue speaks volume about the caliber of the event. The most perfect venue would fit all your guests, relate to your theme, and is easily accessible. The 72 Hotel in Sharjah is your perfect venue. Our sophisticated and smart interiors will definitely leave a lasting impression on your guests. Host your banquet in absolute luxury.

2. Food & Beverages

Without a doubt, banquet is all about the food. Therefore, it’s essential that a lot of thought be put into the menu. Your ideal menu should carry an array of delicious food along with special dietary requirements. Crafting the ideal menu can be difficult, so it’s best to leave the catering to professionals. At the 72 Hotel, our chefs guarantee to create a menu that fits your needs.

3. Parking

You don’t want to miss out on an important event just because you couldn’t find a spot for your car. So, having a parking facility for your guests at a close proximity of the venue truly ceases the minds of guests and prevents unnecessary chaos.

4. Dress Code

A smart dress code for your guests would definitely alleviate the overall atmosphere and the glamour of the banquet. Therefore, a proper code has to tag along to the theme of your party.

5. Other Factors

Considering the budget and theme of your banquet, you may accentuate the venue with décor, props, and so on. Including a photo booth can also allow your guests to frame these memorable movements forever.

Tips to First-Time Visitors to UAE

The UAE is undoubtedly a land of astonishing achievements and culture. From impressive skyscrapers to humble souks, UAE is the perfect blend of luxury and tradition. Before you pack your bags, here are a few things about the UAE.

#1 Timing is Everything

When it comes to traveling, timing is everything. As you know, the UAE has a desert climate. When it’s hot, you can expect sizzling temperature, and when it’s cold, the weather is warm. The hottest months are usually July and August, where the temperature exceeds 106 F. Whereas, January is the coldest month in the UAE, with a temperature dropping to 77 F.

#2 Keep it Modest

The UAE is rooted in Islamic traditions. Although there are no concrete laws outlining the clothes you wear, modest clothing is recommended. Dress modestly to respect the culture and avoid unwanted attention.

#3 Show Respect in Ramadan

Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, is a month observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, praying, and reflecting. Ramadan in the UAE means people cannot eat/drink in public during the daytime, and most restaurants are closed. These activities only resume after sunset. If you are visiting the country during Ramadan, show respect to Muslims and their practices.

#4 Book Hotels in Advance

UAE is climbing the become the most popular tourist spot in the world. So, it’s best to secure a nice place like the 72 Hotel in Sharjah for your visit. Book two to three months in advance.

#5 Tipping isn’t Mandatory

Tipping isn’t a norm in the UAE, but it is a common practice. Taxi drivers don’t expect to receive a tip, but the locals usually tip luggage carriers and supermarket baggers.

#6 Stay Away from PDA

Public display of affection is frowned upon in the UAE. Although holding hands is acceptable, don’t get cozy with your significant other in public spaces.

UAE is truly a treat to explore. It’s a unique destination and worth seeing!

Understanding Aromatherapy

At the 72 Hotel, we continually strive to rejuvenate the mind and body of our clients. From offering personalized therapy sessions to a spectacular indoor pool, our goal is to provide the epitome of tranquility. Organic Aromatherapy is another way to relax stressful minds. Our experienced team at the Ellipse Spa blends essential oils to offer the ultimate pamper session. Although our organic Aromatherapy is a customer-favorite, many of our clients are unaware of what it truly is. So, today this blog is dedicated to exploring Aromatherapy.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is a specific holistic treatment that incorporates essential oils (natural plant extracts) into the massage. Widely used oils include lavender, chamomile, eucalyptus, and more. The purpose of Aromatherapy is to improve the overall physical and mental well-being.

How does it work?

During aromatherapy massage, diluted oils are applied to the body, which enters the skin and acts as a gateway for oils to enter the bloodstream and circulate across the body. When you inhale the scented oils, it naturally promotes beneficial changes in emotions, memory, appetite, and more.

Does Aromatherapy work?

According to NCCIH (National Center for Complementary & Integrative Health), scented oils were concluded to boost mood. In another instance, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) 's results showed a significant decline in anxiety after Aromatherapy with chamomile massages. Research from the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a study published in Menopause revealed that participants experienced reduced menstrual cramps and eased menopausal symptoms, respectively.

As you can see, Aromatherapy is a wonderful treatment. So, on your next trip to the 72 Hotel, we recommend an aromatherapy massage from the Ellipse Spa. Your mind and body will thank you for it. We can't wait to serve you!

Common phrases to use during your stay in UAE

If you are visiting UAE it you’ll get away with not being able to speak even a tiny bit of Arabic. English is widely spoke all around UAE but a couple of arabic terms are used in daily conversations and it will surely help you if you know these terms while you’re vacationing. Also, check out the offers to stay in the best hotel in sharjah, Hotel72! (https://www.hotel72.com)

Hello and Goodbye

As-salam alaykum is the phrase used to formally greet someone to which the response would be Wa’alaykum as-salam. Both the phrases translate to ‘Peace be on you’. However, there Is another way to greet people with the words ‘Salam’ or ‘Hala’ which are more informal ways to say hello.
When arriving in UAE, you may also be greeted with a ‘Marhaba’ or even ‘Ahlan wa Sahlan’ both translating to welcome.

How are you?

You may hear a lot of this phrase ‘Kayf Halak’ or ‘Kayfa Halik’ which translates to how are you for male and female. The response to this phrase would be ‘Ana Bekhair’ meaning I’m fine. Adding a ‘shukran’ meaning Thank you is a more polite way to answer.
Good-bye in arabic is commonly said with the phrase ‘Ma’a as-salamah which does not exactly translate to goodbye but ‘go with peace’.

Everyday conversational terms

Let’s give some scenarios:
You left hotel72 in the morning to go shop at a local souk and find something that caught your eye. You like this item but are not sure of the price. You can ask the shopkeeper ‘Kam Yukalif’ translating to how much does this cost?
Yes and No are two very commonly used words and it is essential to know the arabic versions of these. ‘Na’am’ is yes in arabic and ‘La’ means no.
Min Fadlak (male) or Min Fadlik (Female) is used to say please in Arabic
If you want to grab the attention of someone or maybe if you just bumped into them, you can say ‘Alma’derah’ for excuse me and ‘Asef’ for Sorry.
As mentioned earlier, ‘Shukran’ is the arabic word for Thank you.

Some other popular terms

Habibi/Habibti: Used for both male and female, the word literally translates to beloved but over the years its evolved as a more friendly term like how we say dude in English to refer to someone who is close to us. Don’t be afraid, you can use this to call anybody you feel comfortable around.
Maafi mushki: Probably the most common term you will come across as it is used by pretty much every nationality. The phrase translates to No Problem or No worries and can be used at various different situations.
Inshallah Ior Insha’allah: This phrase translates to ‘If God Wills’. It used for things that you plan for the future. For example, you meet a friend and he invites you to his place for dinner. You can say Yes I’ll be there In Sha Allah meaning you are confirming to be there if nothing goes wrong.
Khallas: This has a few different meanings like done, finished or enough.  If you are dining at our restaurant in hotel72 and the waiter approaches you to offer dessert but you are done eating. You can just respond with Khalas, specifying that you are done eating.
Yallah: A very widely used word accepted by all nationalities living in the UAE is an expression that can be translated to Hurry up or Move quickly or Let’s go. The most common people you’ll hear saying this are parents their children.
Shu hadha?:  This term literally translates to ‘What is this?’. Same like how it is in english, it can be used as a simple question inquiring what it actually is or can be used with more aggressive tone when you are angry about something.
So there it is, a few arabic words you can use while you stay in UAE. You should definitely visit Sharjah which is known as the cultural capital of UAE and stay in our best hotel in sharjah!
